THERE IS A FIELD...I'LL MEET YOU THERE is a three-person exhibition curated by Inam Malik, featuring artists Syed Hussain, Kris Knight, and Alireza Shojaian. The exhibition draws inspiration from Rumi's concept of a "field" beyond moral absolutes, exploring identity as a site of continuous adaptation rather than a static state. It examines how belonging and estrangement, memory and invention, and intimacy and spectacle contribute to contemporary selfhood, highlighting the provisional and fragile elements of individual lives.

The works presented challenge viewers to consider diverse perspectives on identity and belonging. Syed Hussain's miniature paintings chronicle generational memory and Hazara life, approaching portraiture as an ethical act that restores visibility and dignity. Kris Knight's portraits and still lifes use surface, costume, and floral motifs to convey interiority and queer feeling, treating memory as a staged scene. Alireza Shojaian's canvases reconstruct classical forms into contemporary counter-archives for queer lives under threat, using art history's visual language for commemoration and protest. The gallery space is arranged as a series of meeting points to contemplate ambiguity and the shaping of the self through ritual, displacement, and desire.
