Alchemy

Almine Rech Paris presents Robert Indiana: Alchemy, the artist's first monographic exhibition with the gallery, running from October 17, 2026, to January 23, 2027. Organized in collaboration with The Robert Indiana Legacy Initiative, the exhibition coincides with a monumental LOVE sculpture by Indiana featured in Art Basel Paris' public program.

Indiana's work is characterized by acts of transformation, converting overlooked or ordinary materials, signs, and language into charged artistic forms. He defined this process as 'alchemy,' a transmutation of the lost into the found, junk into art, and the neglected into the wanted. This exhibition explores the material, formal, and symbolic logic of his oeuvre, where found objects, language, memory, and personal history are continually reshaped into a significant artistic expression.
